a benediction

if i could wish for you to be
blessed with a shimmering grace
you'd see if you looked closely that
a river runs through it
bisects your heart and traverses
your veins carrying with it
the solace of benediction of
a life well-lived a gentleness
of spirit that could calm you in
disquieted times giving you
a peaceful balm to soothe your
tormented brow in times of battle
when you momentarily forget
that the fight is not what matters
but the surrender
it would carry you swiftly yet gently
by the touchstones of your
life and you'd know no sweeter
touch than the grace blessing
your fingertips as they brushed against
your best heart moments as
you passed them by on the banks
of your soul's stream
feeling no fear in the rhythm
of the current knowing full well
in the chalice of your heart
that right time carries you
as it sees fit and that it doesn't matter
which direction you're headed
because all directions
carry you home

I like the image of a soul stream.

"bisects your heart and traverses

of spirit"

Spritual journey...

Ooooh...you know I like this! I especially like the thought that all directions are bringing us home...what a burden all that worry is, when we fret over being on the wrong road or river...

this touched a tender spot in my heart. thank you Marilyn.

Wonderful, fluid, and yes, so confluent and big, big, big. What a wonderful response to this week's prompt!

Absolutely brilliant! I LOVE this poem!

Oh wow. It's like a hug for my heart.

Beautiful.

so heartwarming, loved the idea of the ending.

What a lovely benediction, Marilyn. I especially love those last four lines.

I'm running a bit late, but I just found this post and it is a beautiful poem.

I love this site, its rather a very good improperment of language

Winter in Summer
Daily and often it changes:
The outburst of its desires,
With no compromise it fires,
The little it brings is marvelous.
A beautiful feeling in an ugly one;
Enjoying the feeling of pain
The nonsense and sense prone,
A sudden arousal of fiction,
Depicting the trails of reality,
Emerging with sense and sensibility,
Over and over in actuality,
The demise of best for worst,
Inside and out in shivering,
Gracing the plight of humanity,
In all directions: the unexpected,
Becomes generally expected,
To run down the spin of us all,
Through the rain to the rains,
Grace has left us all,
Until we meet again,
The ruins shall always win
